Plan Your Vote

Three ways to vote securely:

1. Vote early in person for 28 days prior to the election

  • You can vote early in person at the Lorain County Board of Elections during the early voting hours which start 28 days before the election. 1985 North Ridge Rd. East - Lorain, OH 44055 - (440) 326-5900.

  • Review the voting hours calendar from the Lorain County Board of Elections and PLAN YOUR VOTE. https://www.voteloraincountyohio.gov/

2. “No excuse necessary” absentee ballot, aka “vote by mail”

Fill out your application requesting that the state mail you your absentee ballot. 

  • You can click here to do this online and print it out, sign, then mail the signed form in an envelop stamped with 60 cents postage to the Lorain County Board of Elections at 1985 North Ridge Rd. East - Lorain, OH 44055 - (440) 326-5900

  • If you live with a disability, information about accessible services is available here: https://www.sos.state.oh.us/elections/voters/11-g/

  • Once you have received your ballot, make sure you have filled it out with your choices and mail your ballot back on or before March 19, 2024. Make sure you have attached the right number of stamps, use 2 of the 60 cent letter stamps.  

  • If you have difficulty or some mishap that delays you, you can physically DROP OFF YOUR BALLOT at the Lorain County Board of Elections ON election day and your vote will still be counted. Address 985 North Ridge Rd. East - Lorain, OH 44055 - (440) 326-5900

3. In person on Election day Tuesday March 19, 2024

Voting in Person?

Be sure to bring an ID, there are several types of valid photo identification:

  • Ohio driver's license;

  • State of Ohio ID card;

  • Interim ID form issued by the Ohio BMV;

  • A US passport;

  • A US passport card;

  • US military ID card;

  • Ohio National Guard ID card; or

  • US Department of Veterans Affairs ID card

All photo IDs must have the following:

  • An expiration date that has not passed;

  • A photograph of the voter;

  • The voter’s name, which must substantially conform to the voter’s name as it appears in the Poll List or in the Poll Book

NOTE: An unexpired Ohio Driver License, State ID Card, or Interim Documentation with your former address IS an ACCEPTABLE form of ID when your current address is in the pollbook.

Make a plan that fits into your life.

Take a few minutes to think about:

  • What time are you going to vote?

  • How will you be getting there?

  • Are you coming from home, work, or somewhere else?

  • Will you bring anyone else with you?
